From 2012-2016 I worked with Drs. John Stoffolano and Heather Richardson. During my time with Dr. Stoffolano, I studied the physiology of flies, particularly the adult crop organ and the mechanisms regulating filling and depletion. At the Richardson Lab, we looked at the influence of binge drinking on neurological and behavioral development using rodent models. The projects I assisted on included elucidating the role of sex hormones on myelination of prefrontal cortex and amygdala circuits during adolescence with Andrea Silva, assessing sex differences in prefrontal nodal domain development with Liz Tavares, and investigating the distinction between the impact of delayed and quantity discounting on impulsivity in rat behavior with Dr. Jesse McClure.
My research interests are primarily focused on the underlying neural mechanisms of behavior, and how behavior can correspondingly alter these mechanisms. I am currently preparing to apply for a veterinary medicine doctoral program, with the intention of specializing in Laboratory Animal Medicine.
