Education & Experience

2017: Research Technician, Program in Neuroscience, Hussman Institute for Autism
2017: Associates Degree in Biotechnology, Baltimore City Community College, MD.
2016 – 2017: Intern, Program in Neuroscience, Hussman Institute for Autism

Research Background

I worked on some simple school projects for a symposium on gene and protein correlation. I presented two poster sessions based on my internship work at the Hussman Institute for Autism, with Celine Plachez, Ph.D. and Gene Blatt, Ph.D. The first poster session was on the role of the Slit 3 gene in Autism, in 2016. The second was The Gabaergic and Glutamatergic sytems in ASD, in 2017. These presentations arose from the experience I have gained on neuronal axonal guidance and neurochemical and neuropathological alteration in Autism.

  • “Autism awareness can’t stop with a list of what makes people with autism different from us. Because what is essential is the constant awareness of what makes us the same.”

  • “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

  • “Autism is not disability.”

  • “We are just like you, with the same desires, and just need help to be typical members of society.”

  • “In the end, the best argument for inclusion is the simplest. It’s the one we know by heart – that all of us are created equal.”
